This is also true about identifying as ADHD, which is seen as less than. I've noticed it's especially hard for privileged white men and women to get to the truth of their condition. It's one reason I admire Anthony Hopkins so much -- he got diagnosed at 72, and came out about it. I wish more people would show that kind of courage. He had no reason to tell anyone, but I've always felt he's an honest and courageous person.
