This is basically the USDA Guidelines. The AHA hasn't been progressive with diet, so it's no surprise. The Dietary Guidelines have led to massive obesity and diabetes because they push grains and allow unlimited fruits because when you tell Americans to eat veggies and fruits they choose, big surprise, more of the latter. This puts too much sugar into the diet and bloodstream, chronically raising insulin levels and causing people to eat four, five, or six times a day. It's terrible advice. Sunflower oil is highly processed, should not be heated, and contributes to inflammation because it is high in omega-6 acids. They should be recommending olive oil. In addition, once again--meat and saturated fat are both vilified, despite lack of scientific evidence that either causes, or has ever caused, heart disease.

Nutrient dense health foods not recommended by the AHA include organ meats, particularly liver, grass-fed beef and lamb, and a diet high in good fats--tallow, lard, suet, olive oil. Instead, we are told to eat lots of apples, which are high in sugar and don't form the basis of any kind of diet. They are a treat, like all fruits.
