Wars are trade are post-agricultural for the most part. You are mixing up modern life with a very different time. Yes, men are more expendable but plenty of them took their seats in the Titanic lifeboats. And plenty of women have provided food during hard times -- which is most of our human history. The belief that our population would've never grown without males is ludricrous. The opposite is more likely. It's agriculture, not hunting, that has led to the human poluation explosion/crisis.
