We are a collective species. We need other people. We are not meant to live individualistic lives--it's not good for us. Toxic individuality is the result of wealth, advertising, consumerism, and not having to rely on others. It's not neurotic to want community. Emotional rules humans, not reason. I despise Trump and wish Trumpers would THINK but the truth is we all have a reason to feel anxious these days. We are consumers, and our modern Western lifestyle is getting worse, not better, and we feel the individual burden of that.
