We have big problems without ready solutions, and planning for the future with so many unknown variables is a giant mind-F*.

It takes fossil fuels to produce wind turbines, for example. Big Oil is showing no signs of slowing down. How to make a living without a computer and internet connection, even if you live off grid?

The choices many of us run into when deciding how to pivot are impossible. I'm 56 and my husband is 71 - should I start farming and ranching? Should I move to Panama, where it's cheaper to live, or Ireland where I'm less at risk for a toppling US democracy? It's not safer to move when the odds are impossible to calculate. I eat few plants, due to an autoimmune disease - so a garden isn't an off-grid solution for me. Sure, I can learn to bow hunt., but the reality is, even in this deer-infested neighborhood of mine, once supermarkets go extinct, everyone else will be harvesting deer, most likely with AR-47s.

Humanity's best hope is a major population reduction. It's the only way we can stop adding C02 to the atmosphere.
