We were separated at brith.

It was in 2nd grade when I noticed a girl in my class (we'll call her Lily) who had just moved from another country became instantly the most popular kid. I was scheduled to share for show and tell and had brought a storybook to be read by our teacher, but Lily showed up with a record album and a song - Oh, What a Night by Frankie Valli - she wanted everyone to hear. The whole class immediately begged the teacher to listen to the record. This was the beginning of my dawning realization that no matter how hard I worked, I would be socially average (or worse). Even the teacher wanted Lily to take center stage.

I don't have a desire for popularity, but it would be nice to, I dunno, get a promotion or have someone listen to me, or be able to use my multiple graduate degrees. In high school, I attributed my lack of social success to some kind of deformity but in the end, I suffer from anti-charisma, I guess.
