When I saw the headline, I thought, 'Why is my old article up' then realized I hadn't written it but I swear I did, in my head, probably while lying awake at 3 am. I'm 94% sure that it's my chronic high cortisol level that's behind the bad sleep. I wake up rarin' to go, which is absurd because I'm mostly retired. I'm considering finding a therapist to get to the bottom of this because I have tried every other possible cure on the planet. I've tried neurotransmitters, breathing therapy, books, podcasts, all the sleep hygiene methods, having my own room and bed, and once I even sold my soul to Satan. To be fair, magnesium does seem to help relax me (but doesn't touch the sleep problem) and zinc creates more dreams. Lately, I've noticed another weird monkey wrench: every once in a blue moon, like every 5 weeks, I'll sleep through the night. It feels so good I think: maybe this is the beginning of good sleep! The next night, I'll sleep terribly, I mean like 4 or 5 hours. This happens so consistently that I've come to believe my body doesn't want me to relax. Sorry for the rant. Loved your article. I pray for us.
