When one person doesn't travel or doesn't communicate via anything but Instagram, or whatever the case, it IS a challenge to keep in touch. Regular communication can be as little as a pen pal relationship, as long as both parties are happy with that, but it sounds like Clara would've liked you to be somebody you aren't -- a traveler.
