Yes, I see your point--your budget is for people on Medicare. My husband has Medicare. Mine is marketplace. I haven't been able to find anything cheaper and I wouldn't be surprised if the monthly cost doesn't go up $100 each year until I am paying $1500 a month or more by the time I'm eligible for Medicare. A few years ago when I tried to "retire early" I didn't fully grasp the nature of this escalating medical cost, and forsee the premium hikes I have no control over. So I work part-time, but it's not relaxing because a full-time job with benefits would markedly improve my situation. Finding a decent full-time job with benefits is getting harder and harder as the gig economy grows unchecked and of course, my age is a problem. I can't complain--I'm lucky to get by with part-time work, but I DO complain because Medical costs in the US are a regressive tax to make some people very rich. Thank God for Obamacare because without it I'd be working whatever job with benefits I could find.
