You are right--white supremacy is better understand by more white people today. The problem is: economically, more Americans were better off in terms of pure numbers. As bad as Nixon was, Trump is decidedly worse. Nixon resigned because he had shame; Trump tried to overthrow the government and continues to lie about it while bilking Americans out of funds. There is more equality in wages today, but it isn't just because non-white men suddenly make great wages, it is also--arguably, mainly--because all wages have flatlined. It's true that white men could support a family on one wage--but now many families can't live on two wages. We are objectively worse off as a nation, and while being woke is a victory, there are plenty of reasons to look back at pre-internet, pre-social media, pre-Trump days and wish for some of what we used to have. What's frustrating is the inability to express this reality without being tagged a luddite or worse, racist.
